Hey guy, help me out here. I just bought what is suppose to be a NOS grille for my 68. I was expecting to see a grille ready to install. How do i tell if this is NOS or a repro? This one is grey with no chrome. Kevin

I don't believe the grilles came with the chrome pieces in either case. You will have to buy them separately. Aftermarket pieces are readily available but they are not of the same quality as the originals.

Thanks Toby I just wondered what a NOS grille looks like right out of the box. Im believe that the grille I bought is a repro. How can I tell the difference?

I purchased a NOS grill (which is still in the box!) about 20 years ago and it is grey without chrome. It must be painted.

I have a 68 NOS std grill I took out of the box and on the back side, bottom, pass side, sort of under the marker light, in between two of the mounts for the lower grille moulding, the GM part number is stamped into the plastic. If you still have a issue then post and I will send you a digital picture of it. But it is real easy to find smile.gif

A real NOS grille will be a lighter gray color than the repo's, or later GM replacements.

Not sure if this helps but, I have 20 year old GM RS grill in box,it is black plastic with no chrome. It is wrong for my car, a 68 RS/SS which should have hotstamped chrome on leading edge of bars.
