I am painting the inside of my trunk. I bought 3 cans of Plasticoat 500 grey/white spatter paint. I have used all 3 cans and now I need more. I wish I had used some grey primer on it first to help cover better! Before anybody says it, I know this is the wrong collor for a '69, but my car is Pro-Street and this color looks best in it. The problem I have is this stuff doesn't seem to want to dry. It is thick and rough like undercoating and I don't know if I screwed up by using this stuff or not. I did a search on this subject and found some people suggesting clear over the paint. What should I do now?

I don't know why it won't dry.I know if the outside temp.is cold it won't dry until it warms up.I've done it a few times with my cars and I have painted the trunk with paint first and then splatter.I also used a simi clear to finish.

I did the same thing and was told to use a black paint as an undercoat then the splatter paint would coat more evenly.

I bought some cheap splatter paint at a swap meet it took about 5 cans to really cover all the surfaces good and this was over black. On the next car I did I bought GM splatter paint and got beautiful job with just two cans. The 2 cans cost more than the 5 cans but results were worth it. Hope it drys for you or you are going to be in the trunk wiping it out.

Well, I scraped it all out today and bought some grey primer. I sprayed everything with the primer and tomorrow I will try the spatter paint again. I read the directions on the back of the can today (I know guys are not suppose to do that) and it said to use Plasticoat 505 sealer over the paint. Maybe this will help. I hated to scrape out $21 worth of paint!
