I am trying to replace my trunk pan(just the center section), tail panel, and the lower rear portion of the left qtr panel. I cut the trunk pan out and am going to put new braces on but I noticed that the replacement pan doesn't have the vertical lip on the rear edge of the pan that connects to the tail panel with body caulk. This vertical lip runs all the way across the rear of the car and is rusted in just the center by the fuel nozzle tunnel. How do I replace this? Am I going to have to fabricate something? Now, for replacing my tail panel, I noticed that there is an inner panel that runs across the back that the frame rails connect to. It's a 69, Do they make replacement panels for these anywhere? I seen them for 67 and 68 but not 69. Am I going to have to make something for that too? Curious about any help on someone replacing a trunk pan and tail panel, I can get the patch on my own but this is a little bit more tricky. Could use the help right away! Thanks.

I just did those pieces. The panel behind the tailpan is not repro'd at this time and I just patched mine up and covered it with POR-15 almost all the way to the edges. I left the edge natural so I could weld on the new tailpan. Inside the trunk I used some lengths of preformed sheet metal angle from the home depot. I welded it to the replacement trunk floor and to the inside surface of the tail pan and caulked it. Worked great for me. Use a cut down paintbrush to give the caulk the factory look if that is your thing.

I am doing the same thing to my 67 right now. The trunk pan I bought from National Parts is the biggest trunk pan they make and it does include the lip that goes up the tail pan about 1". This lip is not quite as tall as the lip on the origional trunk pan, it was maybe 2". I cut all the spot welds along the tail pan, and there are a lot of them, which are behind the bumper. It was hard getting the brace that goes under the gas filler neck out as well. When I put the new one in I will weld up all the holes I made. I have not started this yet becouse I dont know if I should weld the trunk pan in first to the frame rails and then weld the side extensions and shock towers over the trunk pan? Or should I weld the extensions and shock towers in first then the trunk pan? Also where did you see the center section that goes between the frame rail up in the front of the trunk? I have never seen them for sale.
