i'm stripping all the paint and rust off my 67 body. had a few ?'s. will a wire cup brush scratch the body metal too deeply? or sould i shell out for a big roll of 80 grit sand paper? one more thing.... should bondo be placed on bare metal, etching primer, or regular primer, (and then primer over the bondo?)

I use the wire cup on a grinder and it works well.Just be careful not to stay in one spot for to long because you could heat the metal up.It doenst dig deep.I usually follow it up with 100 grit on a DA followed by 180.

Use 60 grit on a DA sander than go over it with 80 grit. Use urethane self etching primer first and body filler second. When sanding the body filler or blocking the car, if you "burn thru" the primer to bare metal, you'll need to reapply the self etching primer to the bare area again.

i think i might try the cup brush first since it only costs a few bukcs. but thanks for the primer- bondo- primer combination step
