Has any one put this size tire 29x10.5w slick ( Hoosier 18175 ) on a 69 Camaro with no mods other than rolling the lip on the wheel well ?
It has section width of 13.2 " vs 11.9" on the 29x10 slick.
The tread width is 11" vs 10" on the 29x10 slick.
I talked with the Hoosier rep and he recommend the 29x10.5w, but I don't know if I have that much room.
If they won't fit then I am going with 29x10 slick (Hoosier 18170 )
I like to hear comments before I spend 400 on tires that won't fit.
Does anyone have an old worn out one close to Madison, Wi.
Thanks

What I did/do is make a cardboard template of wheel/tire combo and check clearances.

Remember Doug, he's talking about a '69 car w/ the flatter wheel well opening..

Borrow one if you can. Looking at Doug's picture, his tire/wheel won't fit your 69.

That's why I mentioned it b/c it is fine for my '67!!
And fwiw, I gotta funny feeling that a 315/45-17 will fit under a '67/'68 FINE w/ a schosh of thinking about raising them a bit like I raised mine w/ my old L-60-14's!!
I figure 1.5" in b/c the lower shock mount will tuck up inside the inner rim and it will be OK raised up a bit, but not all that much......

I was only showing the outcome of proper tire/wheel fitments and how I do it. I know 69's are different, but this still applies.

No way. I have a 69 with MT 29.5 X 10.5 x 15W on a 12" rim with notched frame rails and the outer lip rolled up top and trimed in the front and they are tight. Goodluck.

My old L-60's measure a modern 298/53-14 on a 9" wide rim.
26.5" in dia., w/ an 11.5" section width......
They are still mounted and up on my shelf out in the garage.

Thank you for your replies. After doing some measuring in the garage over the weekend, I have to agree with fiveforty. I dont think it will fit without notching the frame rails and rolling the lip. I will still try to borrow one for fitment. If I notch the frame rails and roll the lip, then I could most likely make it work. I was trying not to notch the frame rails, but may consider it. I think the best decision is to get the 29x10 slicks and then go from there.
For those that have notched the frame rails, did you also relocate the upper shock mount ?
Thanks
