I did a search and couldn't find anything on filling in cracks with epoxy.
How do I go about doing this? The cracks are very small and were painted over. I stripped all the paint but there still remains paint in the cracks. Is there a good way to remove it? Do I need to remove it? BTW this is on a steering wheel and some of the cracks are hair line.

Well I thought about going that route, but I already have the epoxy and I just got done sanding it. All I need to do is fill in the cracks and paint. It's just the filling in the cracks part that has me stumped. Some of the cracks are hair-line and I don't know how to fill them. Should I scrape them out and make them bigger? Or would just primer over them would be fine?

Often the recommended procedure is to use a hacksaw blade and widen it. Perhaps you can put some epoxy glue in those hairlines?

you can buy the same epoxy as eastwood's kit at any hardware store for about 4 bucks. It comes in two plastic film canisters stuck end to end into a cardboard tube. Eastwood's kit includes sandpaper and instructions for about 20 bucks.

Oh, forgot to answer the question. It is recommended that any cracks be enlarged to allow the epoxy to fill in well. large cracks should be keyed to help hold the epoxy in.

Great!! Thanks everyone. I thought I was going to have to make them bigger (The hard route is mostly likely the right one). The re-assurance really helps out and sets my mind at peace. Thanks again!

Sand your cracks in a "V", wider at the surface with the point of the V being the base of the crack.

I do a ton of gel coat / epoxy repairs to my boat, the best way to go is to use a dremel tool with a pointed blade, then fair the corners with some fine wetsanding paper. fill with epoxy ( I use West System) with some 404 hidensity filler, sand and finish. (eastwood uses PC*7 in their kits)
