View Full Version : Looking for people running 245/60/15s in back
thorpe67RS Mar 24th, 07, 01:08 PM I am currently running 245/60/15s on the back of my 67. I am trying to figure out what size i should run on the front. Right now i have 235/60/15s on the front but they scrub when i hit bumps. So i was thinking 225/60/15s... which are a 25.60 inch tire. The 245/60/15s in the back are a 26.60 inch tire. Im thinking an inch difference between back diameter and front diameter might be to much. What do you guys think? The other option i was considering was 215/65/15s in the front which are a 26 inch diamter. That sounds right but i really wanted to go with a fatter tire than 215. Any of you who are running 245/60/15s in the back what size tire do you have in the front?
heartbeat Mar 24th, 07, 02:43 PM i had a set of 215-65s on a factory 7 inch wheel on my 68 on the front it looked great.. i ran a 255 on the back with a 8 inch rim. the balance looked perfect. 1 inch in height difference. the tires were t/a radials.
Mike_M Mar 24th, 07, 03:46 PM If it helps here's a pic of my unfinished '68 with 245/60/15's on the back and 225/60/15's on the front, 15x7 ralleys all around. I feel the fronts are a little on the small side in comparison with the rears, but overall it's not too bad. The 215/65's, at 26" instead of 25.6", would likely be the perfect height, but I wanted something a little wider. Not sure now, perhaps the 215/65's would have been a bit better.

thorpe67RS Mar 24th, 07, 05:07 PM Mike,
Thanks for the pic. My thoughts exactly as yours. I want the diameter of the 215/65 and the width of 225. Guess im going to have decide if diameter or width is more important to me in terms of looks.

I posted a pic. of my 68 that I just put front tires on yesterday, size 225/60/15, I've order the 255/60/15 for the back from summit but they won't have them until the 12th of april. BonzoHansen Apr 13th, 07, 10:02 AM BTW, as of today, trying to find a name brand 2045/60/15 is proving very difficult. Best I can find is Cooper and Kelly. No one anywhere has BFG or Dunlop in stock. Goodyear & Firestone don't make them anymore. More than 1 person has told me this size in BFG may be dead - and the BFG Radial TA line may be moving to Coker in the not to distant future.
Just reporting what I am hearing. I wanted 4 245/60/15s for my 77.
Mike_M Apr 13th, 07, 10:11 AM I had a really hard time finding my 245's on the back of my '68 as well - I called just about everywhere in the province, at least all the chains, and all the local stores in several cities around that I could find. I ended up getting them off ebay, imported them from Ohio - glad I got them when I did, I probably wouldn't have been able to find them otherwise. It doesn't seem that long ago to me that these types of sizes were pretty common, I guess I'm getting old...
