I ran the numbers on my car last night and discovered that my car has a power top....which was a big surprise to me. The car is currently nothing but a tub and the top is only rails.

Does anybody know 1) if I can get a complete replacement top and 2) a list of parts I need in order to complete the power top?

Obviously, I am just begining the project but I would like to know what needs to be done so that I can start budgeting and looking for deals.

The top material itself can be bought along with the motor, lines and cylinders from the catalogs. The top frames pop up on Ebay from time to time. The assembly manual should give you some diagrams as to what is needed.

Rock;

Welcome to Team Camaro.

Parts can be hard to find but maybe some of these sorces can help you out or refer you to someone that can.

I use the following company for new or rebuilt cyclinders, pumps/motors and other repro pieces -
http://www.convertibleparts.com/ they are located in So. Ca.
Jim Dyer of Chevy Classics has had several ragtops he was parting out in the past and may have some parts available. He is located in Stockton, Ca. and can be reached at 209.941.2112.

I have also used a company called Hydro E-Lectric in Florida for a couple parts. They seam to have a hit-or-miss inventory but may be able to help you locate parts. Their number is 800.343.4261. They also advertize in Hemmings (a great sorce for parts sometimes) every month.

Hope some of this helped - post back with questions if necessary.

Rock, please check your top frame. You probably have the correct frame, you just need the motor, rams, lines and possibly brackets.

Just take a picture of one of the rear hinge points and a pic of the middle hinge when the top is folded back.

It's very easy to tell if you know how.

Here is a good place to get the motor and stuff

This has a pic pics of the power vs manual top hinge

Angelglo,

Here' here's a pic of the car at home. Look a little more familiar?

When in San Bruno you livin? I would love for you to come by and check it out. Here are some more details:

The trim tag says that it is a power top. The hinge in the other posted forum looks the same....however, instead of hydro cylinders, it has springs on it right now?!?!? It does however, have the cuttout for the powe switch at the bottom of the dash.

I'll take some more pics and post them tomorrow morning. Thanks for all your input and help. I have the feeling that you will be seeing a bunch of me in the future graemlins/thumbsup.gif
