I'm looking for some advice, here's the background info
67 vert, installed new 406 last summer (425 rwhp), all street driven
two weeks ago on a fluke warm day, I broke two teeth off the spider gear
the ring gear is a little rough, but my mechanic says it should be fine
here's the questions and there are several, so thanks in advance

if diff was problem, will slapping in a new eaton solve it?
are 12 bolt diff stronger than 10 bolt diff?
what about 8.5" vs 8.2" diff?
if i go to a 12 bolt or 9", is it easy to convert shockes to staggered mount?
who has best prices on new moser's and curries?

Scott

You can put in a new Eaton and solve the differential problem. The new Eaton is a little stronger than the original. The 12 bolt is much stronger than the original 8.2 10 bolt that you have now. The Moser 12 bolt is stronger than the original 12 bolt. The 8.5 is stronger than the 8.2 10 bolt if it is built right. Send me an email for prices on the Moser rear ends. The Moser 12 bolt starts at $1900 with the Eaton posi. As for converting the shocks, I can't answer that one.

Thanks Freddie.
I understand how a 12 bolt ring and pinion gears would be stronger, but what makes the spider gears inside the posi unit stronger?

The rear end is larger, so it allows the differential gears to be larger too.
