: Window Cleaning

I'm trying to clean up my windows. I've surrendered to purchasing a new windshield due to pitting, but I'd like to keep the rest of the glass if possible.

The rear and side windows have what looks like hard water spots. I've tried a lime remover and then SoftScrub with no luck. If I run my fingernail over the window I can just barely feel the water spots. Any idea what I'm dealing with and how to remove them?

Thanks in advance.

Try using a glass/plastic polishing compund. Mothers makes some.
Another thing that works well is Easy-Off oven cleaner.. BE CAREFUL!!!!.. Cover EVERYTHING with plastic and leave the doors open. Wash and rinse using warm water then finish off with glass cleaner.. For all you smokers out there this is the best way to get that tobacco resin off the windows. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

I used 3M FinessIt. I is pretty good at removing haze and water spots and won't scratch. I even used it on the plastic gauge covers on the '69 dash.

This weekend, in Speedvision, they mentioned the same tip as Scott says. Steel wool, they talked about five "0" or more together with any glass cleaner.

try WD-40...it fixes everything. By the way...WD-40 is great for removing dried bug guts and tar from the paint w/out damaging it.

Used the steel wool. It worked great. It didn't appear to scratch the window.

Thanks for the help. You guys have saved me quite a bit of money.

Steel wool works great. Just keep it off your mirrors! Even the 00000 will scratch it!

I have not tried but have been told that Bronze wool five O or higher is even softer than steel wool and won't scratch.

Just a though
