Could a 1969 X-55 SS 350 be had with a manual transmission and if so which tachometer would it have....for example would the limits be 7000 RPM or less? If it were an automatic which tachometer? Thanks.

Thanks. bertfam Mar 28th, 07, 10:11 AM Jason, The SS350 could be purchased with either an automatic or a manual and would have received the 5k/7k tach regardless of the transmission. However, some variation in tachometer red-line versus engine have been observed, perhaps due to factory shortages. For example, some L35s have been seen with 5k red-lines, and some L48s have been seen with 5.5k red-lines. Ed 68 RS 302 Mar 28th, 07, 11:34 AM The one I am looking at has a redline at 5K and the tach goes up to 7K. Just curious if it was possible to have that tach installed at the factory or if it was saved for z-28's. madmax87 Mar 28th, 07, 11:54 AM Early 69 Z had the 7k tach but they were a 6k redline. Unreal Mar 29th, 07, 10:51 AM Early Z/28 used 6000/7000. Jan- July or so Z/28 (not exactly sure) used 6000/8000 Late Z/28 (extended model year, I think) used 6500/8000 |
