Just got the 67 back from the paint booth and overspray is everywhere. Any sugestions as to how to get it off without harming the underlying paint? Did a search and didnt come up with much. The areas Im focusing on is the under hood areas (inners, firewall,Ect). Thanks!

Dave,

You can try Windex or another amonia type window cleaner for smooth area's. I have also used cleaner type polish with some success. It just depends on how heavy it is.

Was the inside painted too? If it was dirty and was not preped, you may be able to pressure was the overspray off because overspray doesn't stick well to dirty surfaces. Or try to use a rag wet with thinner and water.

What timing.

I just got my car back and have the same problem.

How to get overspray off powder coated items??

There are a number of brands of "correction clay" out there M-S #7260 is a vailable at NAPA stores. This stuff is pretty amazing, it will take overspray, waterspots, bug residue and so on off of a finsh (usually needs to be smooth) with little ot no effort. Just spray the "lube" (it's like a window cleaner) on the surface and rub the block of clay back and forth, I'm talking light rub not a workout like rubbing compound. It doesn't work every time but it is worth a try.

The clay works well, don't use too much pressure or you can cause light scratches (the scratches will buff out if you get them).

The rubbing compound sounds like the way to go. I've heard elsewhere that it works well, but the clay bar is a good thought. Im not too concerned with areas under the rear side panels and floor pans as much as the underhood surfaces (gloss black with lots of hazy overspray. Im going to have the car sanded and buffed eventually but i want to see that paint shine now!!!
Kel-what color did you go with?

MARTINSR - seems like after cleaning up the engine comparment and getting everything pretty, water spots are a big pain. Can I use this clay on say, inner fenders and firewalls and valve covers and air cleaners? I love this site, learn something new all the time!
