What colors were in the spatter paint on a 69? Was it gray/white,black/aqua or black/gray? Bob

69er,

It is Dupli-Color DM 109 which is Black & Aqua. It took @ 6 cans to do my 69 trunk. Don't forget to keep shaking the can as you spray it or you won't get enough aqua splatter.

Prior to spraying it on, you will want to get rid of any surface rust and then spray on a rust inhibitor or "rust killer" like EXTEND (item number 81849). You will have to wait 24 hours before you can put then spray the splatter paint on.

I also removed my tailights assemblies, wiring harness and rear marker lights PRIOR to spraying because I did not want splatter paint on those items.

Good luck!!!

Yeah!!!

It was unbeleivable how fast that stuff comes out of the can!!! I was told it would take 3 cans MAX but in my case, I also did any of the surfaces you could see like the inside of the quarter panels and underneath the package tray (I forgot to mention, I took my rear speakers out also prior to spraying). Be sure you have great ventalation because this stuff is pretty lethal smelling if you know what I mean!!!

Also, if your going for points, try and find you some DuPont 289-189. It has the correct gloss, but hasnt been made for quite awhile.

Yeah...the original was really a very faded black (almost grey) with light aqua colored spatter. The spatter was much bigger than what you can get out of the cans no days...

What you need is Zoletone, it's available at most paint stores and NAPA auto parts. It comes in quarts and gallons and is sprayed with a BIG gun, I have used my "body Schuts" gun for years with it. It is waterproof (unlike the rattle can stuff) and is basicly just what the faactory used. There are about 20 colors.

What about 68? Anyone know the correct color combo for 68 Camaro trunks?

7s, 8s, and 9s all used that aqua/blk/gray splatter. If your not worried about gloss, correctness etc., zolatone is a very good product and probably costs less than 1/2 doz. spray bombs and at 1/2 the buzz that youll get(no propellent).
