I'm trying to remove the bezel holding the tic toc tac and speedomer but it looks as thought I'll have to disconnect the cable to the speedometer. Can this be done safely? Its very tight and I can't begin to remove the bezel with it attached. Thanks

You will have to remove the speedo cable, as well as the plug in the back of the dash. It's easiest from underneath the dash.

The speedo cable has a sleeve retainer that screws into the back of the speedo on a 68. You should be able to just reach up there and unscrew it, and it will come right off. You'll also have to drop the steering column to get the cluster out.
