Any things to look out for? Plan on haveing my complete shell/body completely sandblasted on inside and out and then pursue on from there with replacing bad panels/parts of panels.

Thanks

Make sure it's a professional autobody man that's doing the blasting. Panels can warp if not done properly and with proper media.

What type of media will the blaster be using?

The only thing I can think of that will be a negative is that you'll be finding sand in every crack and crevice for years to come.

Not sure what would be used to blast it with, kinda looking for that info also. I know baking soda is being used and doesn't get into the paint.

Just wanted to get it blasted clean then primered with a good etching primer and go from there.

Check my site for photos of my car from start to finish, mine was done using black sand and by a PRO! he didnt warp any panels, he also used compressed air to get out all the sand (almost all) he did his best, then he rented me his both and I went to town with the primer. My advice is ask to see his work and ask alot of questions! Good luck. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

oooops, when I made the comment about baking soda I meant to say it doesn't eat into the metal... not paint.

Thanks for the info guys!

My 69 was media blasted using a black oxide. Done by a pro and no problems. You may wish to remove the undercoating prior to blasting as it just doesn't seem to want to move when blasted. Also, you will be turning the car over, under, sideways during your resto so the media will fall out during this time. I have not seen a little black grain for several years from my car.
