View Full Version : Is it just me or.... 68-327camaro Apr 4th, 07, 12:25 AM is that dude on pinks really annoying? 69camarofast Apr 4th, 07, 12:29 AM its just you..:) what up sets you about him? are you talking about the host? 68-327camaro Apr 4th, 07, 12:33 AM yeah the host, he just seems like a tool. did you ever see the clip of him crashing on someones pit bike? he was trying to show of by doing a burn out or somethin and just ate it. it was awesome TSTONE Apr 4th, 07, 05:13 AM He does come off as a major tool - when he's here in Detroit in June I'll be suprised if he doesn't get B'tch slapped if he pulls one of his Mr Badass acts during a negotiation. Does anyone know how he got the job??? Is known for racing? JD4020 Apr 4th, 07, 07:00 AM I think I read somewhere, that he knows absolutely nothing about cars or racing. He is just some dude (tv producer/director/whatever) who has been trying to come up with a reality show. He and his brother/cousin came up with this idea and pitched it to Speed.. and they bought it. I've been watching it from the beginning, and yeah, I think that if they had someone with more knowledge of the cars, it would be better. All his "technical advisors" were racers that were in the first few episodes, and then they hired them on to be on the show cause they new they were in over their heads, well, that's my take on it anyways...... Jon softail02 Apr 4th, 07, 07:03 AM Total Tool thats why I stopped watching it, to bad the bike wasnt bigger ;) Bry68 Apr 4th, 07, 07:09 AM Yeah, I think he is annoying, too. That show is like a train wreck: you just can't resist watching, though. I mean who would want to bet their car on a race with some guy starting the race with his arms when they have the tree and everything right there? It's almost who's a better sandbagger or who's a better negotiator who wins. BERRY251 Apr 4th, 07, 07:27 AM I mean who would want to bet their car on a race with some guy starting the race with his arms when they have the tree and everything right there? Never thought about that until you said something but its so true, Thats it I quit watching it now! Has anyone ever played the free online version? I saw it on here once and used to play it at work when I was REALLY bored. And yes the host was still annoying! Lost in the 60's Apr 4th, 07, 07:39 AM I can't seem to get the rabbit ears adjusted for reception..... I don't have all that aggravation.....if it doesn't come here free....we don't see it.....:D yes, I still have dial-up, a rotary phone, all my 8 track tapes...... m21man Apr 4th, 07, 07:48 AM yes BERRY251 Apr 4th, 07, 08:19 AM I can't seem to get the rabbit ears adjusted for reception..... I don't have all that aggravation.....if it doesn't come here free....we don't see it..... yes, I still have dial-up, a rotary phone, all my 8 track tapes...... But you do have internet for TC!!!! Lost in the 60's Apr 4th, 07, 08:35 AM But you do have internet for TC!!!! Yup, it's just slow loading....and the links to vids or high res pics are a killer. I usually don't open them....:noway: South Side Goons & Hitmen Apr 4th, 07, 08:40 AM I think the reason they have him drop his Arm's as opposed to the tree is because they want to simulate a real street race. Nonetheless I would never bet my car on a guy dropping his arms. Yep, I agree it's about who is the better negotiator and sand bagger. Maybe one of us can show up with a 1987 Yugo GV on Nitrous and try to win someone's BBC Chevelle or BBC Camaro. LOL!! markr Apr 4th, 07, 10:37 AM Major Annoying Tool I now watch the show with the sound turned off. Good entertainment that way ! Except Mjr. Tool always wants a heads up first race, even if it isn't a fair matchup. 69camarofast Apr 4th, 07, 11:12 AM well since the is an opinionated site as always..:) ..i will give my .02 i think it should always be a heads up race..its run what you brought..and if it doesnt match or isnt fair..then thats your fault, why give car lengths? we never did that in the country..its always heads up..has always been..its one of my favorite shows..it doesnt matter how much of a racing back ground Rich has. ..he came up with the idea..sure theres drama what ever.. its still a good show for those of us that enjoy watching it..he says bring a 10 sec car some bring a 9 sec some bring a 12 sec. car.. theres a lot of B.S. on sand bagging..thats why it should be like some of his shows he has done that are just all out racing..those i like cause you just race heads up and thats it..the bike he road i believe was his cousins motor cycle his cousin is the guy that rides the motorcycle at the end of the track and watches the race then radios to Rich, when Rich took off he did try to take off fast and lost it, i have road dirt bikes and street bikes and i dont think its cool to say it was funny cause you that ride or have before know as well as i do its never funny when you hit the ground..ok ill stop here..happy motoring--im using that from someone here i know its not my ending line..but i like it..:) TSTONE Apr 4th, 07, 11:28 AM I agree with the heads up - The Pinks All Out episodes are definitley the best shows. As for the doofus - my main problem is when he thinks he's Mr. Badass getting in drivers faces or screws up a negotiation - like he did recently by not stopping the race when he found out that the other driver did get his vehicle into 1st gear after he pushed a driver into accepting a compromise & negotiating car lengths based on that condition. Also i roadraced and rode for a long time and can say that as long the person doesn't get seriously hurt it's usually some funny chit when someone does something stupid at the track (typically the teasing lasts for quite awhile and can result in long term nicknames). Hank's 68 Apr 4th, 07, 11:37 AM This show is a perfect candidate for Tivo/DVR. Way too much hysteria/nonsense in between the races. Fast forward through it to watch races and see who wins Cal69 Apr 4th, 07, 11:51 AM Interesting show and yes, the host is pretty much a total tool. It would be so much better if they had a different host and ditched most of the staff, but it's his production, so we live with it. The arm drop start and different abilities of the cars is what adds drama. If you want heads up racing watch NHRA on ESPN. When he dumped the bike it was just too funny. Glad he didn't seriously hurt himself, but jump on an unfamiliar bike and gun it & see what happens. Just dumb on his part. But did he really need to strip off his shirt right after he crashed? That really shows what he is all about. 69camarofast Apr 4th, 07, 03:09 PM If you want heads up racing watch NHRA on ESPN. But did he really need to strip off his shirt right after he crashed? That really shows what he is all about. ya i know, i watch it all the time..im just saying i enjoy watching his all out racing better..and why give lengths?! have you ever had road rash or ate it on the street? your shirt will stick to your wounds quick..so ya the shirt coming off makes sence..i personaly would have thought about it..cause i have these love handles going on..but my wife doesnt seem to mind..:o .. 68-327camaro Apr 4th, 07, 07:24 PM it should be all out. there shouldnt be any talk between races because thats not entertaining. that way they could get 2 or 3 different matchups in one show. and i ride, it sucks to fall off, but if you arent seriously hurt its funny. most of the reason it was funny is because he was trying to show off. it would be a better show if they used the lights, and did heads up racing without him on the show. the show has had some really dumb episodes, i mean i saw one were they were racing snowmobiles on the track. i mean c'mon thats just stupid Peter Constantine Apr 5th, 07, 11:13 AM Rich is a TV producer-knows nothing about cars or,before Pinks, racing. He might be a little aggravating but he's there to put on a TV show-not make friends.I think he's done a good job-we're all watching and talking about it. I agree that all the drama in between runs is tiring,I think there should only be one person from each team at the negotiation circle.
