I recently got this '68 camaro and it is disassembled. It has a RS grille setup in the trunk, but how do I know if it really belonged on the car or not?

Is there a service like the PHS for pontiacs where I can get a copy of the build sheet for this car?

Nope sorry George, there isnt any location of build sheets unless your's is accidentely hidden in the car somewhere. If the car is totally apart, then its gone for sure.
Clues is all you can look for. RS cars have headlight switch with hose bibs on it for vacuum hoses to run the headlight doors. They pass thru the firewall in a rubber grommet with 2 holes in it. Rear back up lights are mounted below the bumper in the lower valence with factory stamped out holes. There are tons of threads dealing with the clues to help you, try a 'search' in the Tag section or Body section as well. Welcome to the Team Camaro site as well. :)

wow.. so really it is pretty hard to prove one way or another what the car really was. That's unfortunate. I obtained a build sheet for my '70 vette, but I guess keeping 12k records is alot easier than keeping 200k+ records for the camaros. Well when I actually get the car to my house I will post pictures and details on what I find.. I like a good treasure hunt anyway.

Thanks, that does help. It does have the correct hood latch. I remember the long arm on it.

Their first photo and comment is incorrect. The windshield fluid bucket is mounted on RH or Right Side (passenger side) inner fender to make room for the Vac Tank. They said its mounted on the LH side, thats the drivers side, thats wrong. :(

Jim,

Wrong on a 69. Correct for a 68.
