I just got a set of Street stars and when I put them on I could only get 3 full turns on the studs. I ended up going out and buying 1/2" longer studs and now I can get around 13 turns. WELL it ended up I needed a 1/4 spacer on the drivers side ( thats another thread ) so now I only have 6 1/2 turns on the studs. I believe the studs are 7/16 ( stock). I'm worried about the strength of the stock size stud. Could I drill the axle with the correct size bit and put 1/2 studs on and cut them down to size? Or do you think I'll be fine with what I have?

Dorman sells longer studs. See a NAPA store, or somebody who sells Dorman, the orange parts drawers.

Newstalgia said if the stud size is 7/16 you should be able to thread the lug 7/16 on the stud. Thats a little less than 1/2 inch. When I get home I'm going to measure how far 6 1/2 turns goes on the stud.

The wheel studs are 7/16-20. The "20" means 20 threads per inch. 6 1/2 turns is less than 7/16". I'd get longer wheel studs if I were you.

You should engage at least as many threads as the studs dia. The stud is no stronger than it's dia.
