I attended the circus that is Barrett-Jackson, and was onstage when this L35 325HP car rolled up Friday.
http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appslist/details/cardetails.asp?In_AuctionID=222&In_LotNumber=351

It wasn't even "prime-time" and I got a picture of the screen at $70K bid. A skybox bidder won, there is a lot of drinking and back-slapping makes me wonder how competitive these auctions really are :noway:

Great car/great red color I was expecting $60-70K, the crowd gasped as it blasted past that.

It had a power antenna. Was that factory optioned, dealer installed, or neither in 1968?

Cell Phone pics so bear with me:

Wow!! 110k!! For the 325 horse 396!! I have seen these go for 70k as well if they are matching #'s and maybe 75k but 110k blows my mind. Just goes to show you people will overpay in many cases if it's an auction online (ebay & other sites) or in person.

Hopefully the buyer will in fact have purchased a matching numbers car instead of a restamped date correct clone which all of us here see way to often. None the less it looks like a nice car.

No Power Antenna option in any first generation Camaro.

This may not be a strang as you think. I've heard that there were only 7-9 1968 Camaro convertibles built with big blocks, A/C, and 4-speed. This rarity could account for the high price.

Are drinks courtesy of the auctioneers? Makes sense, wait until morning comes to find out what they did night before. Like a bad date.

Nice to see that the seller cleaned up the engine compartment before the sale...In the pics on the BJ site...the master cylinder top is all rusted out along with the power booster...it has red heater hoses...and is generally rusty/dirty :D

All the drinks are free for the bidders.
Makes for some intresting auctions.

One of the nights there were free shots being offered
by a new Vodka company.
It was like a circus - about 20 girls from one of the local strip clubs were milling about.
I have to admit...That was fun. :D

In 1968 there were 18,199 BB Camaro's, 35,866 Camaro's w/AC, 47,572 4speed Camaro's, and 16,927 convertible Camaro's. Hard to fathom only 7-9 with all of the above. Not saying your information is inaccurate, just curious where you got it. Mike. :beers: :beers:

Does that master cylinder look right? Also, not to be a nit picky PITA but the D90 stripe is incorrect. Goes too far back on the door. For $110,000 the least they could do is get it right. Nice looking car from what we can see. BJ is smart to give free liquor. For a 10% sellers fee and an 8% buyers fee it's money welll spent.

Don't forget about the $250 bidders registration fee ($500 in Scotsdale)
