68 RS exterior side molding (lower door) installation problem:

The holes are there, the really nice moldings from Classic Headquarters have arrived complete with all attaching hardware and some vague installation instructions. Problem is the instructions are so vague I don't have a clue how the attaching hardware fits and cannot find any good reference to tell me how these moldings go on the car. :clonk:

I have the factory assembly manual and found the only picture (Z22-A3) in the book which does show one of the screw in retainers for the end piece. What I cannot find is how the push in wire like clips are supposed to be attached to the molding.:noway:

Anyone know where I can find some detailed instructions, hopefully with diagrams of how these moldings go on the car?

Thanks in advance!

It's been awhile, but if I remember correctly they can be kind of spun into the molding and can then be slid to the correct position. I remember that the repro molding was so thin that the clips left impressions when I pushed them into the body, so be careful.

Ditto on what Kevin said. Be EXTREMELY careful when pushing them on. They are very thin metal and will dent easily.

I used different fasteners then what came with the kit. It's been awhile but I think they were shaped like a letter "T". You put them on the trim and then pushed them into the hole in the door. I got mine at a local body shop. Good Luck!!!
