: 80-81 Z28 cowl hood scoop solenoid flap ?'s

I just bought a functional 80-81 Z28 cowl induction hood scoop that bolts to a factory Z28 hood, and the air cleaner assembly and mating ring that bolts to the underside of the hood.
FYI these scoops had a flap in the cowl opening operated by a solenoid motor and a switch under the gas pedal that would open the scoop when you floored it.

I saw one on eBay as a complete setup with all the wiring and everything. The list of parts to operate the solenoid included:
the fusebox connection
the gas pedal switch
the injection motor connection
and OIL PRESSURE CONNECTIONS

Does anyone have any idea what the oil pressure connections are for???

Here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=584826342

Also, I only have the solenoid motor that is attached to the scoop and flap, and am needing the rest of these parts. Does anyone have any idea where I can get a hold of these parts???? used, nos, or reproduction. I have a feeling these aren;t something that are available as repros...

Also, what are everyone's feelings on taking the front facing NACA duct type scoop on the 79 Z28's and making them a functional ram air scoop??? I got the cowl scoop half for the reason that it came with the hood mating air cleaner at a reasonable price. If I had say a full time front scoop if I opened it up with a dremel and reinforced the opening and put a screen in the front of it, would this pose any problems as a daily driver???? Would a front facing scoop have trouble in the rain if it was full time? I wish I had a better knowledge of the GTO Ram Air scoops on the 68 -70 models I think.

All advice is appreciated. I am asking about this because I think that the 79 NACA duct type scoops are much more attractive than the cowl scoops... I have both now so I can experiment...

thanks!

Chuck
