: Which type of replacement rocker panel?

I need to replace my passenger side rocker but I'm not sure which replacement to buy. As it sits, the original rocker is all there and solid except that the center 2"/3" all along the length has been torched out. Do I get the "slip-on" type, full rocker or what? Or should I patch it?

Thanks all!

I know you just forgot, but what year are we talking about?, It's a big job to cut out a side rocker without disturbing any lines. I would find a good heavy man who can set you stright on welding up a clean plate, and body work from there. M2Cents on info given.
I had a rocker on a 68 banged out (Driverside) 7 years ago, would never know.

i bought the rockers that jc whitney sold, just the front top and sides, down to the pinch weld.Easy for a body man.Take the door off and drill out the welds on the pinch,I seamed it under the sill plate.just be careful around the rocker to quarter seam. http://members.spree.com/entertainment/ochrisl/Pict0018.jpg http://members.spree.com/entertainment/ochrisl/Pict0013.jpg
pics are different sides of the car but still before and after.

If the rest of the rocker is good, by all means do the slip on. The full rocker is necessary sometimes (like my car) but it is a very big job and can be "botched " up even by a professional who doesn't understand how cars owner like the ones in here want the best job possible for thier rides.

I guess I coulda been a little more specific. 69 coupe totally gutted.

There was a cheapo replacement on it that was tack welded on by what must have been a blind person. I hacked that one off and ground down the welds (more like bird crap). The drivers side has the same panel on it and looks fine.
Now that I think about it, since the full rear quarters have been replaced I'm definitely going to have to replace the rocker so all the body panels match up nice as opposed to patching this rocker.

Ochrisl, the original replacement was just like the ones you bought from JC Whitney. Is that considered a "slip-on"? Is a full replacement the same thing as a slip on?

I just don't know the physical differences between the options I see in all the catalogs. I know there's a difference between convertables and coupes, but what's the difference in the replacement rocker options I have?

I know, I know.... this should be easy. Sorry....

I bought a slip on from JC Whitney and it was junk. Not even bent to the right dimensions. I cut it up to make patches and bought a full rocker from D & R. It fit great but it is not an easy job. If you don't need it use a slip on if you can find a good one. For me I am glad I went with the full rocker as there was a lot of rust you could not see till it was opened up.

Thats funny, mine fit perfect.Maybe they were using a different supplier, most of JCW's metal is made by Sherman. full rocker is about $80.The repair piece is about $30.Slip on is different than a full rocker. If you can afford it buy the full rocker and use what you need.

At Camaro Parts Network, we sell both the slip on and full rocker panels. It would be a very big job if you replced the whole thing. The slip on should work. If you would like to give us a call we can discuss what would be best and prices and such if you would like. Here's our website: http://www.camaro1.com
