Hi guys, I just won an original Chevrolet Brochure,
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=015&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=250103262466&rd=1,1#ebayphotohosting

my question is this......Is this the correct grill for a 1969 Camaro SS ?, kind of a stupid question because it is on the brochure but I was always told it was the grill that went all the way to the front edge on the SS,no paint just grill.............I really wanted this brochure because this is my car ,color ,vinyl top to the tee....so what is the correct grill? Thanks Guys

That is the correct grill...the outer rim of it gets painted the same color as the car...same thing on the RS grills. You do see a lot of cars with unpainted grills in them though...probably either didn't know how it was supposed to be, added the grill later, or just liked the look. I personally like the original painted look.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the angles", but the entire surround outside of the chrome trim (polished stainless, actually) should be painted body color.

That is correct. Make sure you mask between the stainless trim as well as the backside of the grille. I prefer unpainted myself and it looks good.

Hi Alan,
I painted my own grill about a month ago, so I'd be glad to help you with yours if you'd like. The time consuming part was all the prep, taping and plastic sheeting. The actual painting didn't take too long. You've just got to be careful to paint the cells of the grill from all directions to get uniform coverage. The paint was Rick's Semi Gloss black, and I think it looks like the original color.

Here's how mine turned out....
