Does anyone have any thoughts on whether I should add any none original options to my car? I have a basic X77 69 Z with a flat hood, no spoilers, standard black interior, manual steering, Ralley Green with white stripes. The only options the car has other then Z/28 is wood wheel, console with gauges, AM with console mounted 8 track, that's about it. It still has the original M21 and 373 posi but the engine is long gone. If I had the matching number engine I would definately go all original as it was built but since it will have a non original 302 I'm thinking about adding the option I've always wanted (cowl hood, spoilers, comfort weave, style trim). What do you guys think the options will do to the value of the car? I know it will never be a big $ car without the original motor so I didn't think I would be a mistake to change it a little. Any opinions?

Its your car, built it the way you want it too look. If you are concerned about it's pedgree, just have a seperate cowl hood and trunk with a spoiler painted to match and keep the orginals incase you have a change of heart...:) The style option might be a harder decision to make but like I said its your car....:)

I doubt that comfort weave seats would add much....might even hurt if the buyer wants to put it back to match the cowl tag.
As for spoiler and cowl hood, They would probably increase the value of the car at least as much as the cost to install them. I agree with Zuma, painting the flat hood and original decklid w/o spoiler when you paint the car would be of value to a future purchaser. I'd keep the original decklid as is, and search out a replacement or reproduction decklid to install the spoiler on.

I go along with the guys above...I have a matching numbers '69
All the stuff I have changed is all stored away...except the front seats, they are under covers in my office here

Thanks for the input guys, I guess it makes sense to pick up another trunk lid and the cowl hood so I can paint everything at the same time. Who knows maybe I'll get tired of the cowl and spoilers and go back to plain jane. Don't see many like that anymore.

That's my thought. Be different. When is a last time you saw a 69Z without a cowl hood and spoilers.

I agree with Kurt S. My RS Z28 is a flat hood no spoiler car and the general public just kinda looks at it when I pull up to the local cruise in. They always ask is that a real Z? It has not cowl hood or spoilers. I laugh and explain. I like being different, but when the enthusiast sees it he knows what he is looking at and appreicates it.

Could you not also keep your eye open for a numbers matching block? Like the rest of the guys have already said, it's your car, do with it as you wish.
