I have an original 396 camaro with stock exhaust manifolds 2.5 in exhaust dual plane alluninum intake 780 holley I have tried new carbs and it keeps carbon fouling plugs Would hotter plugs help ? Maybe a spacer under the carb? The car is a factory 4 speed and i'm currentlly running a 308 rear gear for milage for the power tour. Any help would be great.

if carbon keeps fouling plugs than you need to get in it big time.put it in first go floor it to around 4500 rpms like you racing it need to blow it out. sounds like you drive like an old lady lol. :beers: also throw some tranny fluid down carb few teaspoons will smoke but it will loosten carbon up.than go drive.

Thanks for the help , I've driven to Texas and Florida and it runs good no fouling then, just in town driving maybe I do baby it to much . I live outside Dayton I 'll try anything .

Well, carbon fouling can be weak ignition, rich fuel mixture, or too cold on the plugs.

What ignition are you running? What heat range plug are you running?

If it doesn't foul at highway speed, I'd lean (pun intended) to it needing some carb adjustment; it sounds too rich in the idle circuit.

I'd go for a hotter plug, advance timing a hair, and stay one gear short of normal.

I'd also run a can of BG 44K in the fuel tank.

The ignition is a petronix with high volt coil also from petronix plugs are AC r44 I think xls and accel wires . I'm also thinking of changing the rear gears to 3.55 s . What do you think ?

I'd go to, at least, an AC 45 plug. The higher the AC number, the hotter the plug.
