I just got done welding on some new brackets for the body mounts on my 67 Camaro.Well my ? is do they go on top on the frame or under in the frame. I put them on top and welded them.
Also what color is the center link to be, black or cast? http://www.camaros.net/forum/confused.gif
Thanks,Matt

I welded mine on top also, but had to cut out the old brackets (what remained of them) because the extra thickness was to much for the polygraphite bushings to compress. Did you remove the old brackets? Rubber might compress but the poly just spread.
Good luck!
PS: The center link shoud be cast.

I welded them on top of the old ones. I figured that the thickness wasn't that much and I am doing all of them so the frame would just sit lower. the front clip is off and most new sheet metal will have to be shimed anyhow.
If I am wrong what kind of problems could I end up with?
Thanks

I did the very same thing, did not realize I had a problem until I bolted the frame back in. Mine is a '68 and I used polygraphite bushings, thought they would compress but they could not handle the extra thickness of the frame patches. I don't think the frame sitting lower is a problem. What kind of bushings are you using? Try fitting them on the frame mounts and see if the extra thickness is a problem -- I suspect that stock rubber will work.
I sand blasted and painted my frame just to cut the patches off, remove part of the original bracket then weld in the new ones.
Do a search, lots of discussion here but I have not seen anyone else have the problem I did, seems most remove the old and weld in new ones in the same location.
