I bought a '68 recently and it has an unfinished disc brake conversion on the front. I'm not sure how to tell what system he started with. It already has the discs on it and caliper brackets. the calipers are worthless and were left in the rain.

I also have a '79 Elcamino with discs that I am parting out. Is there any chance of this stuff working with what he started? I know this is hard to answer since I can't identify what I have, but what are common sources for these conversions?

how many pistons do the caliper have? if for example it's a single which would be for a 69 ( this is what most conversions are) you should be able to go to your local parts store and just replace it. as long as you don't change to say a 4 piston from 67. just make sure there the same. as far as swapping different years to work i can't help on that. i guess you could take the 79 caliper and try to bolt it to your bracket then you would know?

single piston calipers were in the box. They looked like rebuilt ones at one time. I can use them for cores, but not sure what year make model I need to get.
