After hearing complaints about KYB shocks, I decided to change my front shocks with my old Monroes. About 5 years ago, I had Hotchkis 2" lowering springs installed on my car. It maybe dropped 1" over 5 years. I inquired here and never solved the problem. I took my car for a short drive, this weekend and my front end, dropped at least 1 1/2" ! The stiff KYB's were causing it not to drop ! However, now that it has dropped it made my wheels tilt in at the top ! I maybe have 50 miles on a complete front-end alignment ! Now I have to have it done again ! I just thought I would post my findings to all of you !

That's what I told my buddy who replaced worn out stock front shocks with KYB's this winter. He used a stock height replacement front spring and the front sits higher. I told him the springs will settle over time but the KYB's might be a problem. I told him to get a good gas shock instead seeing as how he's not looking for high performance.

now isn't that odd... I have kyb's too, and they are a high pressure shock and very difficult to compress for installation if you don't have the shipping straps on them... I got my front ride ht exactly where I want it with the new hotchkiss springs, but I'm thinking of going with Bilsteins soon...

Bilstiens are high pressure shocks too, right?
If it was any lower, I couldn't get in my driveway!

Wow guys read my post from today regarding brake conversion, I thought I put drop spindles on, after reading this I bet my front end is lower because I also put spiral oil filled shocks on and removed kyb gas. It was the shocks holding my car up that little bit. From my breif test drive I LOVE the old style oil shocks the car rides perfect now. I always felt every bump and stone in the road . Having a vert and stiff shocks was shaking my car more that its worth. Guys dont get caught up in all todays hype, the old oil shocks and old cars are ment for each other, If your looking for a soft smooth ride. If your looking for every weld to break loose run gas shocks.

Man - if this is my issue with my front end out of line i'll die. Gotta pull the shocks and see what happens.

for the same cost as KYB shocks, you can get some lifetime guaranteed Monroe gas shocks that will handle as good and ride much better.
