The cars are different in width and I think the 02 camaros frames were weld in. novaderrik Apr 23rd, 07, 06:11 PM call that one company that will take your shell and $40k and put the body on a late model Camaro floorpan. n269chvy Apr 23rd, 07, 06:22 PM I am not Donald Trump lol, just didnt know how much trouble, found a 02 Z-28 6 speed car with a bottom end knock for 3k, and was just thinking what I could use bob22 Apr 23rd, 07, 06:41 PM for 3 grand u could bolt in a whole new front clip with coil over sus with a lot less work just a thought keep my updated if you try it though it could be interesting n269chvy Apr 23rd, 07, 07:11 PM I know the rear brakes will bolt up and the 6-speed is tempting as well Musclerodz Apr 24th, 07, 10:03 AM www.retrorides.com Silver69Camaro Apr 24th, 07, 10:27 AM I wouldn't bother. The car that has a knock has probably been run hard, which means I wouldn't plan on using the motor or transmissions, which IMO, is the only useful parts. I'd sell the rear discs and junk the rest. The suspension isn't that great. You can buy a LS1 and T56 with very low miles (without a knock) for a little more. pdq67 Apr 24th, 07, 05:34 PM The only S/F conversion I would do would probably be a 2nd Gen. into a 1st Gen. car unless I had more money, then I'd go first class......... You get front steer; Can use Big Car and 1Le 12" disc brakes on it; A better front roll center height; and A 2nd Gen. one would be cheap and easy to find.. As always, jmho.. pdq67 Nine Ball Apr 24th, 07, 06:13 PM 4th gen subframe is useless without the inner fender wells. Those fender wells are required to mount the top of the strut/shock and also the upper A-arm. The lower "subframe" on a 4th gen looks more like a crossmember that just bolts in. It is about as useful as a boat anchor. Joe Harrison Apr 24th, 07, 10:27 PM 3 K builds a killer sub frame for a 1st gen. You can almost get a bolt in for that amount and have a very trick ride. Go over to www.Pro-Touring.com and check out some of the stuff being done. For sale over there is a DSE coil overed sub frame with what i think has the gulstrand mods done. It's just a sub and asking price is about 1K might be taking less. Joe |
