What percautions should I take when I weld near feul line?
I have a crack that needs fixing about 1" long, 4" away from the fuel line. I was thinking using aluminum foil around the area so I dont get splatter on other things as well.

thanks for the help

Wrap the foil with wet rags.

HAVE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER WITHIN ARMS REACH!!! Ditto what Allen said.

Good piont HwyStarJoe, I forgot about the fire extinguisher part!! Have someone stand as a fire watch. Sometimes you miss things looking through the dark helmet. Other then that, I thing you're good to go!!

Put wet clouth around gas inlet to. Be safe not sorry. You do have the carpet out I hope make sure there is nothing on the inside that can go up in flames.

Get everything away that can burn. Paper, cardboard, and don't forget about combustible and flammable liquids. The vapors ignite, not the liquid. The wet rag on the filler neck, and carpet on the inside of the car were good ideas.

Kind of an interesting topic with your handle.
