Hey guys,
I'm buyin a 79 Z28 that needs a little work. It's got t-tops. The roof along the front edge of the tops on both sides is fairly rusty. On the drivers side it's simply surface rust, on the pass. side I think it's gonna need some sheetmetal work. I was wondering if anyone here has had these problems and what kinda $$$ it involved to have repaired.

Secondly, the car is in bad need of a weatherstripping kit. Anybody know of a good place to find one fairly cheap?(Just need window/t-tops) Also, is it hard to do the stripping yourself? What kinda materials/tools are needed to correctly install new window/t-top seals?

Thanks,
Joe

I had a friend who got a quote on removing his rusted out roof with the t-tops & replacing with a good one. It seems like it was in the neighborhood of $1500.00. Your's should not be nearly that expensive.

I don't have a 2nd gen, but National Parts Depot has parts for them. I've used their stuff on my 1st gen.

Also, you might want to try www.nastyz28.com. (http://www.nastyz28.com.) It is a site like this one, only geared to 2nd gens. Good Luck ! I love those cars too.

$1500!?!?!

I'm assuming that was his entire roof? I sure hope so. I think mine will only need very little, if any sheetmetal to be replaced...guess I won't know till I hit it with a diegrinder... http://www.camaros.net/forum/frown.gif

Thanks,

Yup, it was the whole roof. As I said, yours doesn't sound that bad.
