Did the 69 Camaro use 2 different emissions decals for the 302? NPD shows one for before 7/69 (CF) and one for after 7/69 (DJ). Also did the 69 have a coolant decal on the radiator support? Thanks for the help.

MacNeish says CF and adds that the current reproductions don't have the correct lettering character style. I remember reading something on CRG about the coolant thing. I believe it was only on Canadian cars, but I'm not sure. Check the CRG forum, John Z answered that I think.

Canadian cars did use the coolant decal, but it was on the Pass inner wheelhouse just above the heater hoses.

Nope, that one is the GM of Canada oil change recommendation sticker - here's my original. The coolant sticker on Canadian cars went on top of the rad support on the passenger side.

Thanks John....do you have any idea if they used 2 different emissions stickers for the 69's 302? Rick's is also selling both stickers: (coded CF) before 7/69 and (coded DJ) after 7/69. Thanks again.

Don't know for sure, but that makes sense; in those days, the standard incorporation date for federally-mandated safety/emissions-related items was September 1st, which was shortly after the "normal" launch date for the next year's production. As we know, the 1969 model year for the Camaro wasn't "normal" - it was extended into November, which is also why the door-mounted federally-mandated Certification Label also went on '69 Camaros built from mid-August on.

!96 Camaro emissions decal question anybody ... So, as it turns out (after purchasing my emissions decal), that there IS a DIFFERENT one that was used ... On my original 1969 Camaro fan shroud, there is an emissions decal ... And as I find out, that IS where the Air Conditioned cars had the sticker placed ... Okay, but I have not found a reproduction of that sticker, it has a short red diagonal stripes on the boarder, it is about 3 x 5 (or slightly smaller), and it has a 1955-70 in red over top of the decal as well ... Anybody else know what I am referring to ? ... And WHERE ???? can I locate one for purchase ...

The Z28 engine tuneup sticker was CF for sure up to 07A (documented via broadcast sheets). None of the other Camaro stickers changed after 07A, so I doubt the Z would either.

Location could be either on the shroud or the rad support. Most AC cars had them on the shroud due to the rubber seals on the support.

Kevin (kmg1969ss) I dont know where you can get a correct one. But I can say this....those stickers are not very good. If you drive your car then they will start to curl up at the ends.

1969 Air Conditioning cars only ... The emissions decal placed on the fan shroud, where can I find one ? ... Internet search comes up empty so far ... 3 x 5 white decal, short red diagonal stripes on the boarder 1955-70 printed over top of decal ... Can anybody post a good picture of one (mine has had some black spray paint over it and doesn't show too well) ... OR ??? ... Is there a company that could create this decal for me if I were to ask ??? ...

A prior 1969 Z/28 that I restored had it's original emission decal on the fan shroud (fwiw).

Ah yeah, I spoke with a owner of an all original SS 396 of which his father purchased brand new ... It too is an air conditioned car and has the emissions decal of which I am attempting to locate on the fan shroud ... I have some crappy pictures of it I will post ... But still anyone have a better pic or decal source, or a place to have one printed then ? ... Kevin (kmg1969ss)

Kevin, you're going to have to post a picture. I've never heard of that decal either.

Kevin, I've been thinking about the description you ppsted about that emission decal, and I believe you may have what's left of an old 60's California "NOx Box" decal. These were an early retrofit system used to cut down on smog, and were installed on 50's and 60's cars. I've owned a few cars over the years with these things still attached. I can still remember my dad grumbling about having to take our 63 Impala to the local gas station so they could install one when we moved to California in 69. I wish I had a picture to show you what it looked like, but a Google search didn't yield anything.

Kevin, you have to post it to a 3rd party site like PHOTOBUCKET (http://photobucket.com/) and then post a link to the picture here.
