How does this pad and stamp look?
VIN font looks a point or so too large to me.
Has this car been discused here before?
Is this car in the CRG database (124377N222221)?

I have seen other blocks that have been decked and the stamping removed with the decking. What would you do if you do have the matching block and wanted to deck it and rebuild? Could you get a notary to notorize the original stamping before you deck the block and then notorize the re stamp? Is there any way to do it right? Always been curious about this?

There are machinist/machine shops around that can Deck the block and leave the OEM Suffix and Partial VIN in place and undisturbed after the work.
Talk to a few machinist to get a referal to someone that does this - it is worth the effort and cost on a true collectable 'numbers' vehicle.

Yes, and it is a restamped engine.

I believe that the ad on ebay states that it is a restamp but he "swears he can't tell it is restamped"... hey, at least it's documented. Kevin

Yeah, I sent him a message on that and asked how he could make that claim given the incorrect VIN stamping...he never responded. Too bad really as I like the car and think it would make a great cruise night car. However, with prices as soft as they are and that Tahoe original motor L78 selling for $47,600 a few weeks ago, I think he will struggle to get his asking price. Prices appear to be down between 10% and 20% everywhere...
