It's an 8.5 and appears to have an original disc setup
This diff came in my car when I bought it.

Fred:
I've run those numbers by a couple of sources and found nothing so far.
Our 'best quess' is a late 70's X-body like an Omega - based on an "O" Oldsmobile axle assembly code.
Many of the V-8's (350's and some 305's in some years) used 8.5's - and were available with Rear Disc, as were Nova's etc., as an option (rare though...).
Hope this helps some and someone comes up with a ratio decode for you;

John, I ran the casting number on Google today. It brought up a thread from another forum. Big Gear Head had responded to a post where the casting number was mentioned in a question about diff. parts. The guy asking the question mentions that he has a '79 Z/28 with 1249518B on the third member.
I think I'm getting close. But I still haven't found anything indicating a "ME" code
Thanks for your help. Keep it coming guys!
