Which brand/type spark plugs are you using?

I think NGK's and Nippon-Denso make some of the best plugs. All the Jap stuff uses 'em.

I tried sevaal of the poll plugs over the yrs...
NGKs the others are good, but tend to break down slowly and one dosent notice...NGKs tend to hold up longer, then just give up...AND when one goes the rest will go shortly after...
I never clean plugs, just pull and replace, every few yrs...the 1st sign on the vac gauge or a miss.
There is an old school saying "theres many a carb that has been tuned by replacing spark plugs.
I run plugs as cold as possible, due to longer runners on the valley cover to the 4 cnr cylinders, I run a step hotter on these...some engines may just need hotter on the 2 rear cnrs.

I use the NGK's. Just changed back to them from AC's because the AC's seem to be fouling quicker.

I've never found one brand to be better than the other, or at least never noticed a change.
I use Champions now because I want a US made plug in my US made engine. Simple!

I avoid all the gimmicky, multi-electrode rubbish and just buy the regular style plugs, gap them to about 0.050" and index the electrodes when fitting them.

Thanks everyone for taking part in the poll. I'm a bit surprised that Bosch plugs are not doing so well in the poll. I thought they were a pretty popular plug for American cars as well. Maybe they are only good, if you have a Volkswagen ;)

Steve, I used to use Champion Plugs before they moved out of the country to Mexico. I don't think they are made in the US anymore. I might be wrong on that.

I use Autolite plugs in my cars at the moment. I think I'll try the NGK's and see if there's any difference in plug performance.

I think you may be right. I only just picked up a set (I use C7YC) and they were actually made in the UK. I wasn't sure if it was all Champions, or just the particular ones I use.

The last time I bought a set of 8 Champion plugs for the Camaro a few years back, I noticed on the box it said, "Hecho en Mexico". I was surprised that Champion of all companies, moved their factory out of the country. It seems that way for everything now from car parts to you name it. I haven't seen any USA made plugs since then, so I assume that they are all made in other countries now. That's why I switched to Autolites, because they are still made in the good ol' USA.

I had no problems with the AC's with my old heads, now with aftermarket heads I run Autolite AR series.

FYI- Autolite's are still made in the US- Fostoria OH- I spent a lot of time at that plant, good people, quality concious. The AR (autolite racing) plugs are made on a different line from everything else too, it's all I run.

They also make motocraft, splitfire (on contract), and some of the ac-delco plugs there too.

So, if I'm using the Champion C7YC, what is the Autolite equivelant? Anyone know, or is there a link I couldn't find?

I got this off of a cross reference site from Denso. I cross referenced Champion to Denso. Then Denso to Autolite. If I did my homework correctly.... the cross-reference #'s for Champion C7YC are as follows....

Autolite 3922 or (3923) which is a hotter plug
AC Delco CFR1CLS
Bosch F5DC
DENSO Q22P-U
Motorcraft AGP12C
NGK BCP7ES

Hope this helps.

Also you can typically put an AR in front of the autolite number to get the racing version, if they make it. Basically it has a cut back electrode and a few other tricks.
