the 1st one is probably NOT a Z, most likely an SS "conversion" with bad stripes and NO rear bumper guards
the 2nd one probably IS, it DOES have the rear bumper guards AND has the correct tach

Prolly not, but just posting as you never know when they will reappear. For Kurt's database.

How does one value these?
Since there isn't any documentation or drive-line components left of significance in either car, after a restoration, it would be very difficult to convince anyone what they original were.

I don't know about anyone else, but if I wanted to buy one of these, without proof, I would value it as a "regular" 69. But someone who is unfamiliar with the differences, (as I was before getting on here and doing homework) will see what they want and possibly bid it up.

The VIN #'s appear to line up with what he is saying on the 10D car. I had a 10D car with a VIN # of 124379N530621. Unfortunately I sold it well over a decade ago. Maybe one day I'll find that car for sale and buy it.:)
On the 12B car the VIN lines up with the tag date. These are both pre- X code tags which most people don't bother faking as there is no X code to fake. On the 12D car the seller says nothing about a Z28. If he says it is in the questions being asked about the car, that is another story.
On the 10D car the seller claims it's a Z28. If you look at the photos you know it's a pretty big project real Z or not. But I have seen MUCH worse cars that were either RS or SS with X-11 in 10 million times worse shape that that car. Whether or not it's a real Z only God or Jerry M may know. But if there are no docs, no engine or no trans to go verify what it is, then it's buy at your own risk even if was a regular 327 V8 car.
Lastly, I don't have a doctorate or PhD in trim tag verification but I would say both those tags are real and original to the car as they are both pre x-code tags.
Just my 2 cents.
