View Full Version : Set Total timing at what RPM? scalise May 4th, 07, 01:20 PM At what RPM are you guys setting your total timing? paulm May 4th, 07, 01:24 PM At what RPM are you guys setting your total timing? Depends on when your distributor has "it all in".... DjD May 4th, 07, 01:37 PM Test yours, don't worry about what it's set at. Hook up the light have someone watch the tach and then rev and watch the timing increase until it stops increasing. What ever rpm it's at when it stops is it. As Paul eludes to, this is built into the distributor. You either just set the total at what ever RPM it stops increasing or you modify your dist to change where it stops. A good performance curve would be all in around 3000 rpm, maybe lower depending on your engine build. zdld17 May 4th, 07, 01:59 PM Test yours, don't worry about what it's set at. For cruising I would look at 2500 IMO. I mean, would you want any left over timing above that? markr May 4th, 07, 03:15 PM I agree w/ Dennis Typically all in around 3000 paulm May 4th, 07, 07:30 PM As Paul eludes to, this is built into the distributor. Yup, sorry I "short answered" you....was in a hurry at the moment! :o **Note to self..."If you don't have time to give a complete, CLEAR answer don't bother posting!!!" |
