Then he broke his neck going after the tasty peanut butter snack I left for him. That electronic mouse thing is junk so I'm going old fashion. The car is locked and loaded with 2 traps. They ate a hole through my new apholstery and theres a pile of shavings from the plastic seat back and stuffing. I can't take it anymore, I have a mouse in my house too (and 2 useless cats) that ate the peanut butter, didn't set off the trap, then proceeded to take a dump on the trap and in my Q-Tips. Sorry I'm just venting

Do a search here on mice.. there are a couple of very good posts on what people have found works. I put fabric softener dryer sheets in my car and have good luck with keeping the mice out (and the car smells good too:) )

white 6 gallon pickle bucket with Reeses candy bars in the bottom, set the bucket against the front seat and they will fall in going after the Reeses and die there. Check it once every 2 weeks, dump out the mice, reload fresh Reeses and bingo, no problem. They prefer chocolate to vinyl :)

Sticky Mouse Traps, a little food in the center, they step on the sticky surface and get stuck, the more they fight the more they get stuck, throw trap away with half dead mouse on it!

The motor and tranny are out again (metal in the oil) so it's been sitting then you know how it goes, what was originally a oil pan gasket change turned into a battery to trunk movement, new steering from the steering wheel to the outer tie rods, and now the motor is getting atleast another 100hp. I did get the mouse that was in my house last night with no help from my 2 cats 'Cuda and Vega.

We have avairies...70 odd parrots
So rodent control is a must...

Best baits, is a mix of peanut butter and chocolate chips.

Best mouse pioson is piosoned grain/wheat
Best rat pioson are blocks.
We have used commercial and home made, both effective, they take 4 to 5 days to work...lay small amoints replacing what is eaten each day, till there is no sign for over a week that it is being touched.
The home made is Plaster of paris and or borax mixed with seed, or borax mixed in peanut butter/chocolate mix

Main times of problems, Spring, going into main breeding season, and autumn, head inside, from colder wetter weather.

Traps, we us 2 types of small cages
1/Mice...is like a crayfish pot where there drop inside thru a hole with spikes that stop them getting out...we can get upto 4 or 5 in there at 1 time.
2/ Rats...wire box with a spring loaded door at one end, this is activted by a baited trip wire inside.

The traps are generally used once the bait is no longer been taken...thu we do also set at the same time as baits also.

Cats dogs are also an issue...
We now use a portable electric fence unit designed for stock control (cows etc)
my 1st one I made out of a truck, 24v coil, and indictor flash unit and replaced the contacts with those from and old set of pionts, and a step down AC transformer from and old electric blanket power unit...and mig wire.

An old school prevention...farms etc..and works.
In NZ possums, rabbits etc are major pest issues...(NZ have no indiginoius mammals)
Go out shooting, collect the carcases, skin and hang on the fences, the meat/bones, mince up and spread along the fence lines.

We do the same where rat/mice holes are found...mince up and stuff down the holes... they tend to aband them.

Holes we also handle 2 ways
1/connect a pipe to the lawn mow engine and poke down the holes, partly bloke any other known holes.
2/Lime sulphur soln...used for winter spraying of roses...dilute down, and pour down the holes then seal...gives off SO2 gas.

The critters are relentless, aren't they? I've fought them in my Camaro for years. Not so much since I built the new shop but they've cost me a perfect original headliner.Someone asked how they get in-they're very industrious. They ate their way in past the rubber shifter boot! How much do you have to want to get inside something that you'd eat a rubber shifter boot to do it??!! They also ate about 1/3 of the build sheet from my TransAm.
