Sportsman II's aren't really in the same league as the Brodix IK's. Find someone that wants a good set of street heads, sell 'em and step up to the Brodix pieces. Contact Mike Lewis (Wolfplace) at the sister Chevelles site, he has helped a lot of members with great prices. Good luck!

If you plan on ordering the AFR heads you better do it ASAP. I just ordered a set of AFR Mongoose heads for my LS2 and the wait time is 8-10 weeks.

Oh and to answer to your question, I would buy the IK200 heads. I think Brodix makes a killer product.

I would vote for the IKs given the two, but I always recomend AFR's to anyone who asks.

Also, you need to find out where your 60' is going. At that e.t. and MPH I would expect at least a mid 1.50s 60'.

What converter do you have in it?

I have talked to the guys over at Brodix on numerous occasions. Go to their website and ask a tech which head they recommend.
I bet you get a return email with 24 hours.
I sent AFR's tech line a couple emails and never got a response.

I don't know about where you guys race, but the hitters I know run Brodix almost exclusively. I've seen 2 or 3 pairs of AFR's per race versus tons of Brodix. AFR supposedly moved to a new facility and were supposed to be able to drop their wait time to about a week, but that sure hasn't happened. They make a nice product but when dyno'd or run against Brodix, they're not the head and shoulders favorite they look to be on paper. Brodix's quality is apparent out of the box - it's extremely rare to have one that's not ready to bolt on with no issues. You can't say that with AFR's, many need tweaking to get right. I've had more than one builder comment that AFR's valve job is strictly for published numbers, it has to be tweaked to make max power. Not so with Brodix. IT TAKES MORE THAN BENCH FLOW NUMBERS TO MAKE POWER AND IT'S RARE WHEN THE HEAD WITH THE BIGGEST NUMBERS MAKES THE MOST POWER.
Not to step on any toes here, but AFR is a lot like Fram oil filters. They're marketed well, everyone has heard of 'em and praises 'em like they're the friggin' holy grail but they don't turn on the win light as much as Brodix or Dart. The reference to Fram is in marketing only, they're junk filters but AFR no doubt builds a quality product. How many of the country's top bracket engine builders use 'em on everything? Not a bulider that wants to turn out 6 - 8 engines a week, that's for damned sure, 'cause he can't get enough heads from AFR!

If you're trying to wring everything you can out of your engine, why aren't you looking at the top products of all the manufacturers? Brodix's IK's are good heads, but they're a budget head for a hot street ride, just like Dart's Iron Eagles. You really should be looking into some of the new Track 1's. If these won't make the power you're after, Brodix has several different heads with everything from stock valve locations and angles to 14* canted valve heads.

I was going to say the exact same thing as knuckles. Every time I go to the drags, Brodix is the probably the number one head being used.
The only time I have seen AFR's at the drags was when a guy was trying to dial in his street car.
I would have bought Brodix heads for my LS2 but unfortunately they don't make them.

When I was going to build a pro-charged SBC, I called Brodix and they recommended I use either the "CNC Race Rite 180" or the "CNC IK210" heads.

Hope this helps.

track ones are junk. a good set of ported dart 2s with a good valve job will be same cc intake runner as out of the box track ones ,.and will have better numbers ,waaaay better port speed and make as much or more power. imo track ones are marketed as entry level race heads cause thats the quality they are .i dont know where you guys race but ive never seen any quick heads up 23 cars running brodix anything.:noway:

Let's here more of your combo.
Particularly, what intake and carb are you running? Cam, etc........

The 60ft does seem a bit sluggish, but I'm comparing it to a TH-400, not a powerglide(although I did race a guy with a glide and his 60ft was similar to yours but he caught me at the big end)

Maybe we can get you there with your current combo????? No need to spend cash if you don't need to.

Anyway, I like to play with the squirters and sometimes pump cams as well to dial in the 60ft. I don't have fancy suspension like most of these guys, so I don't do ANY suspension tuning.

unless that truck is 3500lbs, there is no reason why that combo shouldnt already be going 7.0 or quicker.

MPH isnt ET, and that tells me something was wrong with the turbo trans.

the 60ft is way off, the combo as it sits, would be going 7.teens if it 60fted 1.50's

I would personally, if it were me, pocket port and mill the heads, and see how much it picks up in ET.
