Can I make these work on a 70's 350 block?

If you bore matching boles in the first generation block using a LT-1/LT-4 head gasket. You will also need a good water pump to cover the added flow of the reverse coolant. The water pump can be standard rotation or reverse rotation (usually implies serpentine belts). Other wise you will have a hot running head because the reverse coolant design limits water flow across the back of the head.

LT1 is LT1, it won't work on anything else.
The Vortec heads have coolant exit (thermostat) passages into the intake. The LT1 doesn't. It should be a "dry" intake on that one. The LT1's thermostat is in the water pump and it circulates the feed/return coolant through the front of the block (like the LS engines).
