hi everyone,
im having issues with my race car fuel system.
the car weighs 3200lbs and the engine makes 450hp & 440tq.
i have a fuel cell in the rear and a holley black pump mounted just below it.
the fuel line is 1/2" aluminum tube and is roughly 14' long until it reaches a bg 2 port+ reg. there are two 3/8" braided lines from the reg to a 750 hp holley.
the car has run a best of 11.24@118 so far.

the problem: i have been through two of these pumps in 3 years. the current pump failed on the start line during eliminations yesterday. (not happy)
the pump gets hot and makes a growling noise and eventually drops fuel pressure.
before you ask, the power supply is more than adequite. it has been checked by an auto electrician. and the fuel filter is clean.

the next problem is, i have just built a new 400ci small block which made 680hp.
will i have to go to a completely different fuel system or can i utilize some of the components i already have?

thanks in advance, justin.:)

You really, need a return style reg. and at least a 8an return line. Put the reg after the carb feed, and set the head pressure at 6-7 psi. doing this will allow your pump to only dead head 6psi, in doing so cool fuel is allowed to cool the pump because it's moveing in loop tru the retrun. If your pump will flow say 9-14 psi, the return flow is going to be at roughly - 6psi or what your reg is set at. Also put a check valve filter in line before the carb, it will help keep the bowls wet when sitting, due to drain back on the return line. BG has a ton of good Pic's on there site check them out.
