Now that I've made my final decisions on some motor upgrades, I'd like some estimates on HP and TQ.

Could somebody please plug these into your sim software ?

Thanks VERY much onovakind67
I owe you one !

Not as much HP as I would have thought. Of course it nevers is, is it ? :D

I have basically put together an L-82 350.
But I have upgraded the carb and intake (Holley 4150 650cfm and Edelbrock Performer intake)

The calculated HP comes in well below the 350 rating of an L-82.
Is that beacause of the compression ? (9.5 vs 10.25)
Or were L-82 motors not really making an honest 350 HP ?
I would have thought the intake/carb would have offset the drop in compression.

(Oops...I meant I was basically building a L46 350/350HP motor)

Is anyone else getting similar numbers with your sim program ?

I had expected around 325-330 HP with 9.7:1 compression

Disclaimer
I didn't do a search for your cam specs, or heads so there's a lot of grey areas. I just fumbled with stuff til it got close to what you gave us.:D To get accurate numbers out, you need accurate in.;)

But I show if you install your cam zero it bumps you up a smidge on hp by moving the torque band a little higher.

DD2000 comes up with even less HP and torque using 9.7 as the compression ratio, and stock manifolds and mufflers as trhe exhaust, it maxs out at 291Lbft at 4000 RPM and 267HP at 5500 RPM.
RPM/HP/Torque
2000/80/211
2500/116/244
3000/155/270
3500/191/287
4000/222/291
4500/249/290
5000/266/279
5500/267/255
6000/257/225
6500/229/185
7000/189/142
7500/154/108
8000/98/64
8500/47/29

I used the cam specs from this page:
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/3000/cmspec.html

Even boosting compression to 11:1 didn't get the HP up to 300HP.

If you were to put the engine on a dyno with no accessories you might get close, but in the real operating confines of your engine compartment with all its power consuming features you will likely get a lot less.
Another thing to consider when using a computer simulator is that it is a simulator and whatever numbers you get out of it really mean nothing in the real world. If your simulator shows you making 450 hp and you run mid-13's @ 100 mph, what are you going to say?
The easiest way to get 350 simulated hp out of your 350 is to do it by declaration, just say "I have a 350 hp engine" about 20 times every morning in the mirror.
Another tool to use is Cardomain pages, where horsepower seems to abound. Just search around for car similar to yours and add a few horsepower since you know you can beat that guy...
