Is it possible to replace a 700r4 with a complete setup from an 82 fbody. Assuming I could even find this setup still around, could it be done. How would the rest of the drivetrain work out. Anyone ever try this?
Is the 10 truly a better tranny than the world t5? This is for a v8 of course. My experience with the Old t10 4 speed was a positive one but I dont know how well the ones used for the camaros was built and what it will handle nowadays?

You'll need all the donor parts, pedals, linkage, edtc. I think the early ones were not hydraulic, where the T5 cars might have been. I'd rather do a T56. Check thridgen.org, lots of info on the swap.

Even if price were not a consideration? I hope to be able to find a donor. Have nothing against regular clutches and love to see the linkage. I'm old? The T5 world is rated at 300 horse power, dont know what the old t10 was actually rated at, but the rating on the t5 is fairly accurate, while I remember the old t10's were used well above that, powershifted and all. Had a couple behind a 427 myself and though I did eventually destroy them, there were darn good reasons for it happening. 300 horse was not where I was at?

The t56 has some drawbacks that are not being discussed much. The waste a good deal of horsepower compared to the t5 and afew builders of lite weight hot rods would rather save the weight than add more power to make up for it. A sensible approach I suppose. I do not have any comparison between the t5 and the t10 with respect to that, but I suppose the waste happens due to more rotating mass and the t10 being heavier it may have a problem in that area also.
The best t5 being made (stock) is for mustangs rated at about 330 horsepower, but unless I can destroke this motor back to a 350 rather than a 383 I wont get below the ratings. I happen to have an aversion to simply stepping on the clutch if I get to feeling racy. T5's just dont get it and the only t56 I would be able to use would cost a fortune.

I can understand all the stuf leading to the clutch and the tranny, but are the 82 variety F bodies different in the way the tranny connects to the rear? I suppose if I find a donor, I could simply remove the whole thing, all the way back to where it connects to the rear. If it were different. I would love to know in advance though.
