Hi Ron - Welcome to TC, I wanted to let you know I created a new thread with your post. The thread you posted in was over 3 yrs old since the conversation ended.

Is you LT-1 equipped with the same cross ram and heads that was being developed for the 302?

Thanks for all your interest, I have been busy working on the Steve McQueen race truck that the Vince Piggens motor was in, I can now post photos of the motor, I was going to rebuild the motor and reinstall it in the truck But Steve installed the motor in late 1970 and iam restoring the truck to the 1968-1969 race condition so now iam not sure what to do with the motor, Does any one need it for there collection? The block is a standard 350 LT-1 with the block casting 3970010 and the date code is I-2-9, and the front of the block has the Vince Piggens numbers 70065-149-B And after that the # VO911CTN, I was told GM pulled production motors then took them to the special room, The heads are casting # 3927186 and the date cods are H-29-9 and I-2-9 They are standard production 186 heads with port work, It has a standard # 1182 3.48 stroke steel crank with the main journals grooved, And standard pink rods with all the trick work, The can will be a 2nd design Off Road solid cam, It also had 12-5 to 1 compression, Photos next, Thanks Ron:hurray:

The cam that was used in 1969-1970 was a solid lifter, called a 754 off road 2nd design, It had 512-536 lift and 262-273 duration at 050, and 112 lobe center

Hello Ron and welcome. Any insight as to why they choose to use the dual carb cross ram on this Lt-1? I know along with the cid increase they also were banning multiple carbs, so the prototype for the SY-1 seems to be the likely choice for that engine? Wayne Guinn has a nice story on the intake. Perhaps they stuck with tried and true hardware for this motor?

1970 Camaro 500001 was on display at the 2007 listed as being owned by David Tom and John Miller. Listed as coming through as a 350cu cross ram with JL8 rear disc brack package. The car has since had an LS6 452cu prototype installed.

I can't believe they don't want the engine for that car.

my understanding is that N500001 originally came down the assembly line with a 6 cylinder ... the car was used for a test mule for a variety of engines, including the LS6
