Should find out tomorrow if my free 400 block is crack free and usable. Going into my 69 RS(ss) with TKO and 3.73s

Top end is the Brodix IK200 kit. Compression about 10.7:1 IIRC. Thinking hyd roller but not completely decided. Not afraid of an occaisional valve lash of an SR. I believe the heads/springs are good to .575 lift too. Anyone got a good recommendation?

I do have Cal-tracs and plan a couple of runs on the strip but may save those parts for the BB Camaro down the road. Max power with drivability is my quest (isn't it everyone's? :D )

Here is a grainy vid from a while ago with the 69 I lost to thievery a few years back. It's the last run on the link. The others are my 68 SS396 Chevelle.

With a flat tappet hydraulic cam (Compcam 280H) I was down to a 12.3 @ 110.
Now with a big solid roller I'm 11.9's @ 113 and have fuel isues (cell's half way in and electric pumps on the way).

I run the XE288HR in my 406.

It was my daily driver until I got another car. Totally streetable, plus it seems to run pretty good.

I'm using a solid roller 286/292 (not running yet).

Doug - what fuel pump were you using when you experienced problems? I haven't order mine yet and this could be helpful info. Thanks.

MAN, my combo was in the OLD signature style, but the new version is limited. Now, you're makin' me work. I'm lazy. (said jokingly, but I am truly lazy.)

406 6 inch rods
9.9:1 compression
750 Holley double pumper with Proform Center Section
XR288HR roller with 1.6 Roller Tip Rockers
Some cheap Team G single plane intake(too lazy to look)Used to have the Performance Products Edelbrock RPM knockoff
4.10 gears
Coan 10" that ends up around 4200 (supposed to be a 3500)
AFR 210 heads, but port matched to only 1205 gasket
1 3/4 hedman headers to 3 inch x pipe to 2 1/2 Hooker Aero mufflers and 2 1/2 tail pipes
28x10.5 Hoosier Quick Time Pros
Only Slapper bars, no fancy stuff.

I experienced "Fuel issues" with a Holley High Flow Mechanical pump. I switched to the Carter 7psi electric and still had "Fuel issues". My alternator quit later that year. I got a 150 amp ProMaster alternator and picked up 3 tenths with no other changes. I've had no other issues since then.

My dad has went 11.62 @ 116 with an Autozone stock replacement pump and 5/16 line. I'm not sure all fuel issues are fuel issues.

With the Dual Plane intake, the car was only .1 slower and 2mph (at the time) felt snappier driving around town. Even though the single plane picked up even at the 60ft at the track.

Any other hillbilly advice or whatever, feel free to ask. I'm sure there are more things to pick up my combo, but I'm too cheap to spend the cash.

PS, I've went 11.10 @ 119 with open exhaust and a leaky header gasket
