Hi,

I'm just about ready to install a new 460 BBC in my car. I'm trying to decide what would be a good carb to run, I have a 750 Mighty Demon that was on my 383 but am not sure if it would be big enough. Motor is about 10.5 to 1, Edelbrock RPM oval ports, RPM Air Gap, Comp hydraulic roller with about 560 lift, 242/252 duration @50, Hooker Comp 2x3.5 headers. Going in a 67 with a turbo 400 with manual valve body and brake, 35-3800 JW 10" convertor. Rear is 4.11 with Slide-a-Links and 275 MT drag radials. Anyone used AED or BIGS carbs? What do you recommend?

Thanks,

Jeff

That Demon will be fine for now.

You can look at the Holley 80531 850vs carb that is used on the ZZ502s. I have one on my current 454 setup. 10-1, 292 oval ports, Clay Smith .246/.572 hydraulic ft cam. It is awesome on it.

I think you'll be fine with the 750. For the record, I've tried the Holley 850-VS carb I couldn't make it work on a 496. I instead went back to a 750-DP with the Pro-Form main body (combo probably flows about 800 cfm) and all is well on a 496.

Since youre using the RPM intake an HP1000 would be a good choice, even a HP950.

Run what you have for now. It might be just right. If you need to upgrade, do it later, after the motor is running.

I was thinking about looking at annular carbs, would this be an improvement over the down leg boosters? Anyone use AED carbs?

I bought an AED carb through my engine builder (T&L engines) 750dp mechanical secondaries. Picked up engine, installed engine, bolted on carb, never even had to set the idle, runs great, good prices also. - Rob

Hey,

Is there a website that can help you pick a carb. for your combo in which you plug in the numbers on the combo? Thanks

I would think a 750 would be running a little lean on those big engines. I will have to throw a vote for the holley 850-950 pro series carb. I have a 750 on my 350ci and it has been by far the best carb I have ever owned.

I build race carbs and I really like the AED products. I would run a 850cfm on your combo. I think it is a part # 850HO. Good luck.

heres what holley said was best for your application
http://www.holley.com/applications/CarburetorSelector/0-80514-1
1000CFm carb
even a 1050 CFM might work better depending on your peak rpm.
