My rearend is not centered - it appears to be left about an inch. I'm not having any alignment or tire wear issues. Has anyone else encountered this? And what would be the proper way to align(center) it? Can I just loosen the u'bolts and move it over?

Are the spring perches the same distance from the brake backing plates on both sides? Something is not right. There are alignment holes in the perches that fit into the leaf springs.

Todd - are you saying one tire is sucked into the fender well and the other is sticking out a bit? If so you can try to loosen the U bolts, the front spring pockets and the shackles and reposition the rear assembly a bit. Look at how your springs attach to the axle tubes though. If you have a Chevy rearend you'll see the springs fit inside the spring perches that are weled to the axle tubes. This isn't going to give you the 1/2" movement you need to split the 1" offset you have. By loosening the spring pockets as well as the shackles it gives you additional places to try to adjust things. A little slack in each might allow you to get you close.

Your springs could be warped though and if so, you'll never find enough slack to make up for it. The other thing is what shape is your cars body in? It's possible the suspension is lined up properly and new quarters were not put on evenly on one or both sides causing the rear to look pushed to one side when looking at where the wheels and tires are in the fender well.

Thanx for the responses - when I looked at the springs they appear to be in good shape and still have really good arch. As for the qtrs - they have had work done but it looks pretty clean in both fitment and panel alignment. Also I measured the inside wheel well distances from wall to wall and its even.
