cgrady May 8th, 07, 07:19 PM I just purchased my first camaro (67 RS survivor) and im looking for a few items here and there for the car.......what site do people have the best luck with? Seems like Rick's has most things but more spendy and crazy shipping prices.....are there some other restoration sites i should check out? thx for the help!!
italiano362 May 8th, 07, 07:23 PM National Parts Depot. Enough said.
Brentmc May 8th, 07, 07:46 PM D&R or Jact Up--reasonable shipping, good pricing from both.
Rick's allows returns at any time--that's a bonus if you are not sure you will keep the item.
jaguareats May 8th, 07, 07:53 PM d and r got a 30 day return policy. ricks got a 1 year return. old muscle car got to high of prices they advertise this price and bill you higher when they send stuff out 4 days later.firewheel classic or ss396 is good also.:beers:
DanW May 8th, 07, 08:16 PM Firewheel Classics in Texas has treated me well. They have a generous return policy and have been more than fair with shipping charges. They don't have all parts that Rick's or Classic Industries has but they are the closest regionally to me. Recently I ordered a pair of deluxe door panels along with some other small stuff (oversize 1 shipping size, UPS). They charged $20 for shipping and insurance even though their website estimated $22. There was a small problem with one panel and the woman who answered the phone agreed to replace it no questions asked, no rma or hoops to jump through - just send it back, "I remember that order," she said. It cost me $17 to ship it back, and I got a new one immediately. Good folks.
ss350camaro May 8th, 07, 08:34 PM Firewheel Classics is usually my first choice when i start looking for something.
NPD is also a top choice.
Pacecarjeff May 8th, 07, 08:45 PM D&R has many original parts also.
That is who I use. They seem to be the most reasonable.

jtower1969 May 9th, 07, 05:21 AM I have always used D&R. The last time I used Rick's. Both were very helpfull.
DougP May 9th, 07, 05:43 AM I've used sevearl including NPD and Ground Up, I've also received good prices and customer service from Belair Bob's
softail02 May 9th, 07, 06:31 AM Ordered 6K from Ricks over the last 2 years ( 1200 shipping cost ) . Now I drive 30 min to Ground Up. There prices and service are GREAt, I dont even look at any other site anymore unless it is something they dont care.  2 thumbs for Ground Up
Blade May 9th, 07, 06:56 AM Ordered drozen parts from ricks never any problems.
clwilcox33 May 9th, 07, 07:25 AM Ground Up is one of this site's sponsers.
Thumbs up for Belair Bobs as well.
no69x-44 May 9th, 07, 08:05 AM I have been around the block on this topic, as I'm sure most of us here have. This is what I have found to be my personnel experiences:
Ground Up - Good Stuff, Fast Shipping - And a sponser of this site.
Rick's - Very nice stuff - but a little disappointed in some of the sheet metal items, but managed to make them work. Carries most things you might be looking for.
NDP - Very competitive prices, super fast shipping and fair pricing. Pretty much repro stuff, but very decent
Belair Bob's - Great Customer Service (tops in this catagory). Very fair pricing.
Classic Industries - Huge inventory of stuff. Carries hard to get stuff. could be a bit pricey. High on the shipping costs and frankly, a little slow too. but with that said, I have also dropped fair amount of $$$ there.
Year One - Great stuff. Lot's of hard to get products. VERY proud of their stuff. I have found them by far to be the most expensive. Shipping is high too.
Off the top of my head, IMHO that's the list. I'm sure there others that I have dealt with, like I said this is off the top... for what it's worth.
go2fast May 9th, 07, 08:07 AM I've had good experience with Ground Up and some bad experiences with NPD. Ricks is OK too.
Eke May 10th, 07, 11:07 AM I usually comparative shop (including shipping costs) before placing an order with anyone. Make sure when you do this you are looking at items of the same quality. I've gotten burned until I learned that lesson!
Customer service is huge to me. I find one salesperson and try to use them exclusively. I have found this allows a relationship to be formed, which helps if there is a problem. I never call after hours and talk with one of these contracted "customer service reps." I want to talk with a knowledgeable car guy, not just someone who can punch keys on a computer. Finally, I check every box as soon as it arrives. If there is a problem or an item is missing, I contact the company immediately. This also helps in problem resolution.
I've used Rick's, Year One, Classic, D&R, Matt's Classic Camaro's, & Ground Up. I have found the best value for my dollar for quality, customer service, shipping in a timely manner, and helpful advice comes from Rick's. I have never had a problem with them that was not resolved to my satisfaction. The problem's I have experienced with others dealt with the quality of the parts, the price I was ultimately charged, or higher than expected shipping costs.
The bottom line is do your homework!
Eke
