Does anyone know if the the Flowmaster 17139 (they say it is only for the 69 camaro) will fit on a 68 vert with the hotchkis x-bracket? If not, what are the mods that needed to be done? Thanks to all for your help.

Yes it will. I think the 17129 dumps behind the rear wheel, and the 17139 goes straight out the back. I think these are the only difference between the two systems. The x brace is the only problem with the verts. (as you obviously know) You can either shim the original x brace or buy the Hotchkis which will give you enough clearance. One of the mods here JimM, has the exact set up that you are speaking of on his '68 vert. I think it worked out well for him, maybe he'll see this and chime in.

From what I know, Flowmasters are horrible on F-body vehicles.

thanks guys for your help. I think I now remember seeing JimM's post, as a matter of fact, yes I remember his post. Thanks again.

Why would Flowmasters be horrible on an F-body?

I don't think the flowmaster system is horrible at all. Mine (17139 on a 68 vert) is 6 or 7 years old, still in great shape (painted and refurbed last winter) The stainless steel tips still polish up real nice. I use a hotchkiss floor brace and it clears the pipes fine.

I recently switch to borla mufflers, now that is a sweet sound.

Us vert guys can't really hear the flow resonance at all, it goes straight thru the topless. They do sound kinda truck like compared to the borlas tho.

Jim, you always good posts and replies. I am going to buy the 17139 system and a Hotchkis x brace. I'll probably keep the delta 40 mufflers for a while but will probably switch them out. I have Flo-Pro's on right now, but they are so loud and resonate like hell. I just go back my 383 (new). 435HP and 465 ft lbs torque. I can't wait to get this baby back on the road.
