Ok, thanks to whoever looks at this because I could not describe the part in the subject section. ON a 1969 Camaro, behind the rear window, there are 2 seams, one on each side. It is where the panel behind the rear window, meets the back quarter panels. These seams run vertical to the back of the car. They are about 6 inches long -+ a few inches. ON EVERY CAMARO I SEE, the paint it cracking, gone or it just looks really BAD. How do you fix this spot. I have heard bondo, solder, lead filling, riviting, welding, and even seam sealer but what works. How do the show car people fix this???? Is there any way to fix this dreaded problem for good??? Thanks for your help in advance. Robby

I'm no body man, but the only way to keep these seams looking like new is to keep the mositure from attacking from the bottomside up. I think that moisture enters these seams from the trunk...make sure it is sealed good underneath with some seam sealer, then go over it with a good primer and paint to help provide a barrier to mositure. Fiberglass paste is also a good moisture barrier...it really doesn't matter what you use as long as it does not permit moisture to pass. Oh, and make sure you get all the rust outta there too.
I have a seam on my car that was shaped outta a light coat of bondo to get the factory look...its been there over ten years and still looks like new. I do keep my car gargaed though.

on coupes, the seam is not filled. It should be very apparant. On Convts, it was filled, for some reason. Anyone know why?

These seams are spot welded from in side of the truck. Use a good seam sealer 3M never the cepp stuff put the sealer on about a week befor you paint do not prime over it do your sealers last keep clean and panit over it. Mine has been done for over 7 years and looks as good as the day it was panited.
